Re[13]: Micromaze usage - ballasting

The insulator was adapted to the flange. It came from a hamfest buy two years ago. I had a few of them and sold every one except one to the various folks on this list when I offered them a year or so ago.

The insulator is made of the best of the best. (pure beryllium oxide - beryllia). It was really sweet and I am sorry I let most all of them go. Doubt if I'll ever see any again.

I had to machine it off of its standard base, then machione a 2.75 conflat to mate with the metal skirt and then silver solder it to the conflat. Lesker has a similar insulator in porcelin for $1200.00.

Good luck on the SS fusor attempt. Plastic chambers do outgass and I think that after 4 weeks under vacuum, I did finally get fusor I down to 20 microns with a precision D60 pump.
