I received the owners manual for the Welch 1400 today. They recommend a "forced oil flushing" as part of the regular oil change.
This involves first draining the oil. Then adding a cup of vacuum pump oil through the INTAKE port, over a 15 to 20 second period, with the pump running and the palm of the hand blocking the exhaust, thus forcing the oil out drain valve through a clear plastic hose. This is repeated until the oil runs clear.
Has any one ever tried this? I seems to me that since oil is noncompressible, it's a good way to break the pump if one is not carefull.
