Another option with SS is silver soldering which is just fine in some cases. Ultra thin pieces or delicate work are especially well suited to silver soldering. The problem is that large or heavy pieces can warp due to the high overall heat that must be applied. The silver solder should be a special cadmium free alloy with very high silver content.

I have used this option in a few instances, but never use it where TIG would be easier. Of course I have all the welding setups in my lab already.
