I am not an expert in TIG welding SS. Have done a bit and I can say that getting a void free weld without significant distortion is not a trivial task. You might be well advised to look around for a vacuum or scientific instruments shop. We have a number in So.Cal. Also almost any Univ. with a functioning physics dept needs these same fabrication skills. Usually their machine shops welcome the work, and have reasonable prices. You might need someone at the school make the arrangements.

Helium leak testing is nice plus to verify the welds are good.
