Not long ago I bought (for $10) a small direct-drive pump, an alcatel 2002BB. The pump part is great, and it has now been cleaned, reassembled and works fine. The motor, though, was a bit flaky when I got it and now is completely dead- won't start at all unless it has no load at all. So I think the starter winding is shot. Anyway, Lesker, Duniway and LDS have not been able to get me information on replacing the motor. Here's the specs: 3600 RPM, 0.79 power factor, 0.29 HP, thermally protected, 120 V / 60 Hz. Perhaps I should just try to get a replacement from Grainger and make my own arrangements to align and couple it to the pump? Since I am clueless about the details of motor replacement I figured one of you might have some advice.
One more question. The vanes in this little two-stage pump have no springs holding them apart, against the pump walls. Are they supposed to be held out by the centrifugal force on them alone? Are they extremely worn?
Any help is much appreciated. -Carl
