I've been reading about the proposed options for protection of the grid and the one that everyone keeps talking about is magnetically protecting the grid.
I'm not sure that this would increase reaction rates, because to protect the grid the particles would have to be deflected from striking the grid and this sounds like scattering to me, but I'm only an amateur.
