Also, has anyone considered counting gammas/hard X-rays insted of neutrons as a method of determining reaction rates. As 1/2 the energetic particles from the D-D reaction are protons, the ones that make it to the chamber walls might cause a splash of x rays more energetic than the background radiation from the electrons.
