cathode2.jpgattached is a picture of a cathode i designed and produced.
30mm diameter 5mm * .005 strip
i am precision machining my prototypes from ss. second set will from tantalum.
also being produced is a matching grid and rhombicosidodecahedron anode. i designed with these shapes because my machining technique is based on a wafer process (flat), and i can design extremely complex and precise assemblies.
the whole assembly is spherical (all points on the cathode and grid fall perfectly on a sphere, only the vertices of the anode fall on a sphere) and forms 12 precisely aligned electrostatic optics.
