All this has already been discussed and is on record in other forums here on vacuum and construction. It has also be discuss on the older list as well.
The cylinder is fine as long as you have an outside spherical grid in addition to the inner grid. This is exactly like my demo fusors I and II which were in a cylindrical plastic dessicator and glass bell jar respectively.
For neutrons and real fusion a metal chamber must be used. A cylinder is fine provided there are two grids.
