Steve is correct. The hassle with an switcher is the "iron" or ferrite as the case may be. It is custom designed and it is expensive!

The only thing holding the world back in making light weight high efficeincy HV supplies are the custom ferromagnetics involved with switchers!

In my next iteration of the fusor supply, (computer controlled), I am stuck here and must make some decisions soon!
