I usually clean my pumps well, (I have 4), and for storage, I smear silicone pump oil all over the walls and then seal the thing up at the inlet and outlet with several layers of aluminum foil. I store them where it is dry for most of the year. (Hot attic). This seems to work well for as long as I have stored my oldest (~3years). After romoval from storage, clean the pump anew before adding pump oil and using it.
