What Does It All Mean?

I had the pleasure of running the demo fusor for the first time today. I wish I was back in the 70's smoking dope. It was much better than a lava light. I saw rapidly changing, dancing threads of blue light radiating from the grid going in all directions but always radial to the grid center. I saw the dancing bugle. again always radiating from the grid in multiple directions.

There was extinction of the entire process at 5 microns, it was like turning the power supply off, I only had it cranked up to 4KV because of other issues (the ammeter was reading negative ma).

It is almost like the ions are so tightly packed at the center of the grid that they are eventually extruded back to the periphery through a weak point in the electric field. What does the light show tell us about what is going on in the chamber and the flow of charged particles etc.?
