First Fusor almost ready to go.
Index Previous in Thread Next in Thread

All of the electrical systems on my first fusor are finished. My power supply is good for about 10KV DC. I'll try to post some pictures soon in the image de jour section. A string of rectifier diodes was used with no problem, but I would not reccommend doing this. I ended up making two rectifier blocks, each containing fifteen of those 1KV diodes. Soldering together 30 diodes correctly can be a time comsuming chore, but I was able to obtain 100 of these at a hamfest for only $20.

Tommorow I'll start building up the vacuum system. I should be doing ion multipacting within about a week, if all goes well. Eventually, towards the end of the month, I may try to push this first system toward DD fusion, but as a bell jar type unit, it will be superceded by a more sophisticated system sometime in July.
I'll keep you posted on early fusor efforts.
