Second: getting a 1-2 gpm flow for cooling a diff pump is relatively trivial -- small, relatively inexpensive submersible pumps that pump at that rate are easily obtained on the marine market, new and used. You stick one of those in a 55-gal drum of water and run the diff cooling outlet back into the same drum. Use to occasional bag of ice or introduction of cold water to keep the temperature in bounds.
