Another book along similar lines that you may want to consider getting is "Man-made Sun: The Quest For Fusion Power" by T.A. Heppenheimer. published
by Little, Brown and Company Ltd., Boston, 1984.

It's very well written, and it does discuss the involvement by Hirsch in the U.S. fusion program.

There's a lot of interesting tidbits in this book, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning a part of the history of the fusion energy program in the U.S.
