Informer,
A Web search on Miley + NPL gave me Dr Miley’s web page at
At http://www.ne.uiuc.edu/fsl/research/
But the NPL discussed here is Nuclear Pumped Lasers. (That seems to be a cool approach for driving very high power lasers using radiation from a fission reactor – but not in the “small is beautiful” Farnsworth style.) Is there another NPL that more directly deals with Inertial Electrostatic Confinement Fusion?
Following the Links on Dr Miley’s above page to Daimler-Benz Aerospace (DASA) gives an entertaining page
http://www.eads-nv.com/eads/en/index.htm?/xml/en/businet/space/astrium/fusion/fusion.xml&space
Here you can read about the “Fusion Star” Inertial Electrostatic Confinement Fusion neutron source with 5 x 10^6 neutron/sec (D-D) 2.45 MeV continuous with Automated Operation - no pilot training required ! Accepts external computer connection!
Maybe there is money to be made in these things after all.
Any web links you might suggest for the Los Alamos guys, Dr. Laverentiev, or Dr. Bussard?
Thanks,
Mark
