Low power RF can be used as a "keep alive" in some systems. I am currently suffering from fusor III balkiness with winking out intermittently. This is partially due to a relaxation oscillation and also a form of vacuum ionization hysteresis. It is making good neutron counting tough. I may just apply a few watts of high voltage RF in the 1mhz range to avoid this DC winkout problem.
