It is very possible that the big budget fusion programs are about to hit a big roadblock. It is well known that fusion research $$$ is directly proportional to the cost of energy. (Read this as "cost of oil")

As a quick calculation, if this technique converts 80% of light to electricity and doubles the range of absorbed wavelengths, that means solar cells that are 8X as powerful as currently available. The fusion push could peter out quickly....
